Instructions and Care

Mounting

The recommended drill bit for the roller holes is 13/32" (.406" or 10.3mm) diameter. Hole spacing is 35mm (1.378") for the "Traditional" model (3 to a plate). Minimum hole spacing for the individual units is 34.4mm (1.354"). To assure the squareness of the holes to the mounting surface we recommend the use of a drill guide or jig. The full diameter of the roller holes must be 1 7/32" (1.219" or 31mm) deep. The recommended pilot drill for the mounting screw holes is 1/16" (.062" or 1.6mm) diameter. The mounting screw holes should be 1/4" (.250" or 6.35mm) deep.

Lubrication

About three times per year, apply a small amount of vaseline or light grease to the worm thread and gear teeth. It is not necessary to lubricate the bearings.

Adjustment

To adjust the tuners, use the following procedure:

  1. Loosen the string on the tuner to be adjusted.
  2. Loosen the two large lock screws on the worm bearing slide.
  3. Push the worm bearing slide toward the bronze gear.
  4. While maintaining pressure on the slide, firmly tighten both lock screws.
